Droid or iPhone? It’s the popular debate around the office with the true geeks taking strict lines on their side of the debate. Really, you should drop by the office and hear the debates that go on. Is the iPhone better because of its slick design and cultish fan following? Or is Android better because it supports open source design and doesn’t require a restrictive corporate approval process to approve new apps? (Full disclosure – I have an Android phone.)
But regardless of which side of the smart phone debate you fall on, there’s one thing that statistics have proven — we all love downloading apps! When I think about it, the first thing I did when I got my new phone wasn’t call someone, it was visit the app store. And on the app store, I searched for games. We love games.
And as always, the debate is — what does mobile gaming mean for the gambling industry? Of course in the United States and many other countries, there aren’t rules and regulations in place to account for mobile gambling, but this doesn’t mean that the top gambling organizations aren’t looking into the possible future of online gambling. And the UK company Betfair made more than one billion (yes with a B) pounds of off mobile gaming apps alone last year. Not mobile and web combined. Just mobile.
Yes, we’ll see more online gambling in the future and my guess is we’ll see it more freely on Android Apps because iPhone apps take longer to move through the approval process. And Android can be restrictive on what they want to be associated with iPhones. Droid is just more flexible.
